Polina is an evidence-informed therapist who works with adults experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, substance use, life transitions, relationship challenges, and self-esteem concerns.
Polina works to understand her client’s unique experiences, worldview, strengths, values, and goals. She works collaboratively to support patients in creating lasting change by helping clients identify and build upon their existing strengths while developing practical skills to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence. Her warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach fosters a safe therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore difficulties, strengthen coping strategies, and achieve lasting personal growth.
Using an integrative and holistic approach to therapy, Polina helps clients strengthen the mind-body connection and better understand the relationship between emotional and physical well-being. She helps clients identify the patterns contributing to emotional distress and problematic behaviors while developing practical tools to improve daily functioning, emotional regulation, relationships, and overall quality of life. Her work emphasizes resilience, self-awareness, and personal empowerment, helping clients build greater confidence, create lasting change, and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Polina believes that lasting growth comes from increasing self-awareness, gaining insight into longstanding patterns, and developing practical skills that clients can apply in their daily lives. She tailors treatment to meet the unique needs of each individual, drawing on her training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy to select the therapeutic approach that best aligns with each client's presenting concerns, goals, and preferences. Her approach helps clients deepen their understanding of themselves, clarify their values, and create meaningful, lasting changes that support a more fulfilling life.
Polina provides individual, group, and family therapy services and offers therapy in both English and Russian.
Training & Experience
Polina earned her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine. She also holds a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Certification from the Nutritional Therapy Association, reflecting her interest in the connection between physical and emotional well-being.
Her diverse clinical experience spans inpatient, outpatient, detoxification, and partial hospitalization settings, where she has worked with adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns. Throughout these settings, she has provided both individual and group therapy while treating anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, compulsive behaviors, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Polina completed specialized training in Addiction at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, where she gained experience treating individuals across both detoxification and outpatient care. She further expanded her specialization at Arbour Counseling's Dual-Diagnosis Program, strengthening her skills in treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders through evidence-based, integrated care.
In addition, Polina has experience providing trauma-informed care and emotional support to children and adolescents through Nationwide Children's Hospital. This experience strengthened her understanding of adolescent mental health while deepening her passion for supporting young people and their families.
Polina takes a holistic perspective on mental health, recognizing that emotional well-being is influenced by many interconnected factors, including nutrition, sleep, movement, stress, and overall lifestyle. While therapy remains the foundation of treatment, she thoughtfully considers these factors when clinically appropriate to help clients build sustainable habits that support long-term emotional health and overall well-being.
