Dr. Linda Nisanova is a postdoctoral fellow who provides thoughtful, individualized therapy for adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, academic and career stress, trauma, and identity development. She believes that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, honesty, curiosity, and collaboration.

Dr. Nisanova utilizes evidence-informed approaches to meet the unique needs of her clients, understanding the role their individual history, experiences, and personal strengths have in the therapy room. She validates her client’s experiences and teaches them how to cope with strong emotions, understanding patterns of behaviors, and question problematic thoughts.

She works collaboratively with clients to better understand the emotional and behavioral patterns that may be keeping them stuck while helping them develop healthier, more adaptive ways of coping. Her goal is to help clients gain insight, build resilience, and become more confident advocates for themselves both within their relationships and in their everyday lives.

Her therapeutic style is warm, compassionate, transparent, and funny. She balances validation with gentle challenge, helping clients process difficult emotions while developing practical tools to navigate life's stressors with greater confidence. Clients often appreciate her authentic, approachable style and her ability to create a space where they feel both understood and empowered to grow. Dr. Nisanova works with clients to reach their goals and full potential.

Dr. Nisanova integrates psychodynamic psychotherapy with evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attachment-based interventions, mindfulness, and person-centered therapy. By combining insight-oriented work with practical strategies, she helps clients create meaningful, lasting change that aligns with their personal values and goals.

Education & Training

Dr. Nisanova earned her Doctorate in Professional Psychology from The George Washington University's Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, where she received advanced training in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. She received her Master's degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University.

Her academic and research experience has focused on adolescent stress, prenatal and neonatal medical conditions, early childhood friendship development, and the role of attachment in the therapeutic relationship. Her doctoral dissertation examined how patient attachment styles influence the therapeutic alliance, deepening her understanding of the ways early relationships shape emotional well-being, interpersonal functioning, and psychological growth.

Dr. Nisanova’s clinical training includes experience in a variety of clinical setting, college counseling, community mental health, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, and psychological assessment. Her specialized clinical training took place in the following settings Parnes Clinic at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, North Central Bronx Hospital, George Washington University Center Clinic, George Washington University Hillel Counseling Program, Waypoint Wellness Center, and Stony Brook University's Krasner Psychological Center.

Across these settings, Dr. Nisanova has worked with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, emotional dysregulation, identity development, academic and career stress, and life transitions. Her integrative training has provided a strong foundation in evidence-based psychotherapy, psychological assessment, crisis intervention, and collaborative, individualized care.
