Emotional Availability: What It Means and Why It Matters in Relationships
Emotional Availability: What It Means and Why It Matters in Relationships

Introduction Most people would probably say they want an emotionally available partner. But what does that actually mean? Emotional availability is the ability and willingness to recognize, communicate, and respond to emotions while remaining open to connection, vulnerability, and intimacy. It means being able to show up emotionally for yourself and for the people you care about—even when the conversation is uncomfortable. That does not mean talking about your feelings constantly, crying at...

How Therapy Helps People Recover From Emotional Trauma
How Therapy Helps People Recover From Emotional Trauma

Introduction Emotional trauma can affect how people think, feel, relate to others, and experience the world, sometimes long after an event has passed. Some people recover naturally after a distressing experience. Others continue to experience anxiety, avoidance, intrusive memories, emotional numbness, or difficulty feeling safe. If you have ever wondered why you are still affected by something that happened months or even years ago, you are not failing at healing. Trauma does not follow a...
