Kate Bollermann is a relational and insight-oriented therapist who works with adolescents, young and emerging adults, and adults navigating anxiety, performance-related stress, perfectionism, and life transitions. She creates a grounded, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore the internal pressures and interpersonal dynamics that shape their sense of self, deepen emotional awareness, and move through challenges with greater clarity and confidence.

Kate specializes in working with individuals in high-performance environments, including student-athletes, competitive performers, and high-achieving professionals. She supports clients who feel weighed down by self-criticism, fear of failure, performance anxiety, and the demands of both external expectations and internalized standards. Drawing from her background in performance psychology, Kate helps clients explore the relationship between achievement and identity, supporting them in disentangling self-worth from outcomes, building flexibility under pressure, and developing a more stable and compassionate internal foundation.

Her approach balances depth and direction. While grounded in evidence-based practices, Kate works through a relational lens, focusing not only on symptom relief and underlying patterns, formative experiences, and internalized beliefs that sustain distress. She collaborates closely with clients to strengthen self-trust, increase flexibility, and navigate transitions with greater steadiness. Kate believes that meaningful and lasting change occurs when clients feel both deeply supported and thoughtfully challenged within the therapeutic relationship.

Training & Experience

Kate earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College, where she completed a Child and Family Health concentration and received a Student-Athlete Development Certificate through the Woods College of Advancing Studies. Her training emphasized developmental psychology, family systems, and the intersection of identity, performance, and mental health across the lifespan.

Her clinical foundation is rooted in psychodynamic and relational frameworks, with a focus on attachment, identity development, and the internalized standards that shape self-concept. Kate further developed her approach through her work as a Sports Counseling Intern at Bryant University and in private practice settings, where she received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Across these settings, she has worked with adolescents, student-athletes, and adults experiencing anxiety, performance pressure, perfectionism, and life transitions. She also has experience delivering sport-based and psychoeducational programming for youth, helping to build emotional regulation, executive functioning, and coping skills. Kate’s integrative style combines psychological insight with practical, evidence-based strategies tailored to each client’s developmental stage, relational context, and performance environment.

When Friendships Change: How to Cope With Growing Apart From Friends
When Friendships Change: How to Cope With Growing Apart From Friends

As life paths shift, careers evolve, relationships deepen, families grow, and priorities change, friendships often change too. While this is a normal part of adulthood, it can also be surprisingly painful. Many people expect romantic breakups to hurt, and they anticipate grief after the loss of a family member. What often catches people off guard is the emotional impact of realizing that a friendship is no longer what it once was. Maybe there was no argument. No betrayal. No dramatic falling...

Can Therapy Help Mild Depression Before It Gets Worse?
Can Therapy Help Mild Depression Before It Gets Worse?

Introduction You don't have to be falling apart to need therapy. Maybe you're still going to work. You're answering texts, showing up to class, making plans, and checking things off your to-do list. But lately, everything feels harder than it should. You feel tired all the time. Things you used to enjoy aren't as interesting. You're pulling away from people. You don't necessarily feel sad; you just don't feel like yourself. And then you tell yourself, It's probably just stress. Or, I'm...

Attachment Styles and How They Affect Adult Relationships

Introduction Have you ever felt anxious because your partner took longer than usual to respond? Do you tend to pull away when conversations become emotional? Maybe you feel comfortable being close to someone while still maintaining your independence. Attachment styles describe common ways people respond to closeness, trust, and emotional stress in relationships. They are not diagnoses or permanent labels, but they may help you understand your reactions in times of conflict, uncertainty, or...
