Ella Williams, LMSW, works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, identity concerns, relationship and family challenges, perfectionism, low self-esteem, bullying and difficulties with emotional regulation. She is particularly passionate about helping clients navigate periods of change, strengthen their sense of self, and develop healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Ella brings a warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach to therapy, grounded in relational and attachment-based perspectives. She creates a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, relationships, develop tools and skills as well as learn to approach themselves with more curiosity and greater self-compassion. Ella helps clients understand how past experiences and relationships may influence current thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns while recognizing the ways they have learned to adapt and cope with difficult or overwhelming experiences.

Balancing insight-oriented therapy with evidence backed skill building, Ella helps clients deepen their self-understanding while developing tools to manage distress, regulate emotions, navigate relationships, and create meaningful change. She utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, attachment-based and relational approaches, Motivational Interviewing, and principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailoring treatment to each client’s individual needs, experiences, and goals.

Training & Experience

Ella earned her Master of Social Work from the New York University Silver School of Social Work and her Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science from the University of Southern California. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York and New Jersey.

Ella is especially trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy through the esteemed Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. She has EMDRIA certified training for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Her graduate clinical training included coursework in CBT, DBT, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and object relations theory.

Ella’s clinical experience spans hospital, school, research, and community-based settings. At Mount Sinai West, she provided biopsychosocial assessments, brief therapeutic interventions, crisis support, and care coordination for adults navigating complex medical and psychosocial circumstances. “I am an eating disorder registered dietitian and have had the pleasure of collaborating with Dr. Gabrielle Schreyer-Hoffman on several patient cases. Dr. G. is kind, patient, compassionate, empathetic and always goes the extra mile for her patients. Patients have expressed to me how comfortable they feel talking to her about complex issues that often come up with eating disorder recovery, as well as how helpful her guidance has been.
